Pets Policy

We welcome dogs at Tigh an Eilean cottage, although we regret that we do not under any circumstances allow guests to bring cats (I’m severely allergic) or other pets. We have a dog ourselves and a holiday in Scotland without her, just wouldn’t be a holiday!

Unlike some establishments, we do not charge extra for dogs, we feel they are as much a part of the family as children. However, if your dog makes a mess in the garden, you must clean up after it.

Nico loves the countryside around Killin - your dog will too

Prior to setting off on your holiday - pamper Bonzo with some flea powder and also a tick treatment. Our cottages are in the countryside and ticks from deer or sheep can be a problem.

Remember that your neighbours will not appreciate a constantly barking and whining dog.

All that being said - most of our dog owning guests are responsible and treat their Scottish holiday home with respect. It is not our intention to alarm you, but we want your holiday to be memorable for all the right reasons, and to ensure that Bonzo enjoys his holiday as much as you, and our future guests.

Below are some guidance notes for guests visiting with their pooch - these are as much for your peace of mind as ours.

The garden is ‘cottagy’ with flowers, plants and a grassy area at the back. There are occasionally sheep with lambs in the field behind and under Scottish Law a farmer is within his rights to shoot your dog if it escapes to ‘play’ with the sheep.

Please ensure Bonzo’s vaccinations are up to date.

If you take Bonzo for a walk, leave one of the dog towels, which we provide, in the porch at Tigh an Eilean. When you return give him a good clean down before entering the cottage.

Do not leave your dog alone in the cottage at any time. If you do need to go away for a day without your dog - there is someone local who will look after your dog for you for a small fee.

Bring your dogs’ own bed or blanket – that way they know their place in the cottage. We have in the past had bedding ruined by people who allowed their dogs on the beds, and on another occasion guests went out and left their dogs alone in the cottage, and the dogs made themselves at home in the bed and on the sofas. Should this occur you will be charged for extra cleaning and any damage.

Purdey &; Nico are waiting to welcome you
